FAQs

Cases submitted whilst we were Ipswich Building Society will continue as normal. They will remain on the ‘Ipswich journey’ up until completion, at which point the mortgage will be with Suffolk Building Society.

For cases submitted after the name change all sourcing systems and external references have been updated to Suffolk Building Society – however, due to launching a new platform in the new year, our online portal will remain in the Ipswich name until this launch takes place at a later date. This means over the next few months, you will see references to both Ipswich Building Society and Suffolk Building Society during your application journey – rest assured we are one and the same.

The downloads section on this page includes a clear breakdown of when you may see dual names throughout the application journey, along with other tools such as a letter for your client confirming the name change and also a letter for your compliance file too.

We are pleased to be working on a new origination system, and will update you when we have more news on this. In the meantime, cases will continue to be processed in the Ipswich system. This means there will continue to be references to Ipswich Building Society after our name to change to the Suffolk.

Our weekly proc fee payment run will continue to take place on a Wednesday, reaching recipient accounts on a Friday. We are working with our account provider to have our name change completed for the first payment run but please be aware this may still be in the name of Ipswich Building Society.

From 9 November mortgage fees paid through our online portal will be taken in the name of Suffolk Building Society. Any other payments made directly with us, such as over the telephone, will remain in the name of Ipswich Building Society until our provider is able to fulfil the name change.

Yes, a letter confirming this can be found in the downloads section of this page.

We are here to help with any queries from your compliance department. In the first instance please get in touch with Charlotte Grimshaw, Head of Intermediary Relations and Mortgage Sales, by email.

We have rebranded and changed our name. Our legal entity and registration with regulators will remain the same. Legally binding offers will be valid as they would be in any other way.

It is the same system so there will be no change to how we currently do things. If you need a revised offer, or an extension to an existing offer, please contact the Society by phone or email.

From 9 November the Land Registry will not accept a mortgage deed in the name of Ipswich Building Society, and the conveyancer will need to use our updated form. We have contacted all solicitors on our panel with the new mortgage deed and we have directed them to the new mortgage deed found on our website. Solicitors can find our downloads and information on the dedicated solicitor page of the main Suffolk Building Society website.

We’re on hand to help, so please either contact your BDM directly or speak to our helpdesk on 0330 123 1073 (option 1).
